Regional Medical Campus

Welcome to the Regional Medical Campus (RMC) of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (UMMSM). On the RMC, the third year class of students in the UMMSM MD/MPH dual degree program complete their clinical rotations in Integrated Medicine-12 weeks, (Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, Palliative Care, and Radiology), Integrated Surgery-12 weeks, (Surgery, Anesthesiology, and Radiology), Pediatrics- 6 weeks, OB/GYN,-6 weeks, Family Medicine-6 weeks, and Psychiatry-6 weeks. These rotations occur at a number of our partner hospitals (JFK Medical Center, West Palm Beach VA Medical Center, Jupiter Medical Center, North Broward Hospital, and Holy Cross Hospital being the primary locations), as well as at South County Mental Health Center (Psychiatry) and the offices of the many practicing physicians who serve as preceptors for our students. The third year on the RMC is a combination of traditional inpatient experiences with numerous outpatient (ambulatory) experiences for our students. The faculty to student ratios in the outpatient settings (typically one or two students per preceptor) are extremely favorable for students to have the opportunity to get “real-world hands-on” experiences in each of the disciplines, as well as close mentoring from practicing physicians. The fourth year students in the MD/MPH program complete their required rotations in Neurology, Emergency Medicine, and Public Health on the RMC, and have the opportunity to decide between the RMC and UMMSM’s main campus for the additional rotations of their fourth year.
The RMC is also the site of ACGME-accredited residency programs in Internal Medicine and General Surgery, as well as Fellowship Programs in Cardiology and Hospice/Palliative Care Medicine. The residents and fellows in these program are UMMSM-employed and work closely with our third and fourth year medical students.
The RMC is proud of the strong relationship that exists between UMMSM and the Palm Beach County Health Department. As part of the MPH program, students spend time at numerous Palm Beach County Health Department locations throughout Palm Beach County during their third and fourth years.
The UMMSM full-time faculty who support the RMC work very closely with our students in the clinical environment as well as serving in the role of advising deans and mentors, and in turn are supported by an outstanding staff at our offices in Boca Raton and Atlantis.
We look forward to the opportunity to meet you and tell you more about the unique medical education at the RMC of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
Thank you and all the best,
